How do you make a good thing even better? For years, the NACRA 5.2sl was considered the ultimate racing catamaran in the 17 to 18 foot class. With the introduction of its replacement, the 5.5sl, the NACRA design team has outdone itself again.

The 5.5sl is much like the 5.2sl, but it is:

  • Longer, wider, lighter, and more powerful
  • The hulls have been lengthened to 18 feet
  • Beam increased to 8'6"
  • Its sailplan was enlarged and refined to include a fully battened, boomless mylar mainsail and decksweeping jib.
  • It has the exclusive NACRA Bridle foil, which reduces stress on the hulls and decreases heeling motion.

The result is a mid-size racing catamaran that sails like a dream. The speed and power of this boat are unprecedented for a boat of this size.

Weighing only 375 pounds with an optimum crew weight of 275 pounds, the NACRA 5.5sl is an ideal couples racer. Off the course, the 5.5sl offers great recrational sailing and fast cruising.
